This is who started my love for the Falabella line of miniature horses. Here is our story.
I've been breeding Miniature Horses since the late 80's. About 4 years ago I was at a friend's farm and she had just gotten a very malnourished stallion named Shadow Oaks Jose. She took me into see him. He was so thin. At that time he was 20 years old.She wasn't sure Jose would even live.Everytime I talked to her I asked about Jose. Then one day she called and said I could buy him if I'd like.So I went to pick him up, and he rode home in my full size van.I didn't even know anything about him. She gave me his papers and there was only a hand written pedigree. I got him home and that evening looked at his papers. Come to find out he was Falabella. I had heard about the lines but that was about it. Since I had done some computer work tracing large horse pedigrees, I started looking into the Falabella lines. That is when I found out he was 100% Falabella.I also found out that he is from the first Falabellas to be imported to the U.S. and that Jose had been the Washington State Miniature Horse Club high point horse in 1983. Jose has a very special spot in my heart. Through researching his back ground, I have met some wonderful people. He himself is a very special ambassador for the Falabella line.
